Bermuda's Summer Street Festival: Harbour Nights

Get a taste of local culture and flavour at Harbour Nights, a waterfront street festival held Wednesday nights in summer. The City of Hamilton’s Front Street closes to traffic so you can experience al fresco dining, check out the work of local artisans and if you're lucky, dance to the beats of our majestic Gombeys. Get ready to mix, mingle and party!

There’s nothing quite like summer nights in the City of Hamilton. From May to August, on Wednesday nights from 7-10 pm, the restaurant-lined section of Front Street is closed to traffic and transformed into the pedestrian block party known as Harbour Nights. This electrifying celebration has earned a Tripadvisor® Certificate of Excellence.

Mingle with locals and check out street vendors, handmade artisan crafts, food trucks and live music before Gombey drums close out the party. It's a rhythm-rich, fun-filled intro to Bermudian art, music and culture.

ISLAND ART

Creative types thrive in Bermuda, in part because of its impressive natural beauty. During Harbour Nights, local artists and craftspeople show and sell their island-inspired creations, from beautiful watercolours to handmade jewellery to Gombey dolls. It’s the perfect place to find a piece of original art to take home.

DANCING IN THE STREETS

Bermuda's famous Gombey dance troupes set the tone for Harbour Nights. Decked out in colourful regalia, the performers groove their way down Front Street to the sounds of goatskin drums, beer-bottle fifes and tin whistles. The Gombeys combine African, Bermudian, Native American and West Indian traditions in a fascinating, spirited way. Performers appreciate a little donation if you’ve got it – the money goes toward maintaining the regalia and expanding the tradition.

As Gombey drums provide the festival’s grand finale, watch the sun set over Hamilton Harbour and toast to a perfect summer night in Bermuda.
