Bermuda's Restaurants Private Dining Rooms

With world-class service, inspiring cuisine and plenty of private dining space, Bermuda restaurants set the stage for intimate celebrations of any occasion. These group-friendly restaurants with private dining rooms are perfect for your special event.

1. Ascots

Situated in the Royal Palms Hotel, a beautiful turn-of-the-century manor house on the outskirts of Hamilton, Ascots has a singular ambience, attentive staff, outstanding food and a fascinating history. The restaurant has been run by the same two friends, an Irishman and an Italian, since the 80s. The private table in the award-winning wine room fits up to 14 comfortably; the light-filled garden room is great for 15 to 30. Internet ready with a pull-down screen for slideshows and presentations, you have the recipe for creating lifelong memories. With signature dishes of Barbary duck, homemade pasta and seared branzino in a Thai-inspired laksa, special group menus can be arranged.

2. Astwood Arms

Behind the hand carved, wooden bar and dining area of this Victorian era-style pub a separated cellar room can be booked privately. Room enough for 24, seated and 50, standing, Astwood Arms is a cozy spot to catch live games or enjoy classic pub fare with a Bermuda twist — ginger beer battered fish 'n' chips, English trifle with loquat liqueur. A mix of classic rock, light jazz and sounds from the 70’s and 80’s plays in the background of this popular spot on Front Street

3. Bistro J

True to the traditional European bistro, Bistro J is a small and intimate eatery on Hamilton's enchanting Chancery Lane. Perfect for private functions, such as business dinners and birthday parties, their chefs put out an imaginative menu on the blackboard daily that can be customised to your group or event.

4. Cafe Lido

Spectacular ocean views are all yours when you hire out the St. George’s Room, part of the Café Lido complex. The venue can accommodate 40 to 50 guests, for an elegant private dinner or leisurely brunch. The outdoor private terrace is ideal for pre-dinner cocktail receptions. World class Mediterranean cuisine can be served plated or as a buffet with screens and cable access on hand for video conferencing or presentations. Large, picture windows overlook the lapping waves of Elbow Beach. The Hamilton semi-private dining area is great for smaller groups of 20 people.

5. Conservatory Bar & Lounge

Featuring breathtaking views of Castle Harbour, this gin & tea bar is a light-filled, airy atrium in the former enclosed and rarely used library at Rosewood Bermuda. Set just off the lobby, the Conservatory, with hand-painted floors and beamed ceilings, focuses on afternoon tea and craft cocktails enhanced with fresh botanicals – a lovely spot for bridal or baby showers, late lunches and sunset libations. Its savoury-sweet selection includes local beetroot and Tucker’s Farm goat cheese sandwiches, chicken salad cornets, black rum cake and fresh baked scones with Bermuda loquat jam and clotted cream.

6. Frog & Onion

There aren't many casual restaurants with private dining rooms, but this is one. At the heart of Dockyard’s, you’ll find classic pub fare in the Frog & Onion, a traditional British-style pub housed in the 19th-Century Cooperage building. The Admiral’s Room holds up to 70 for a private party of savoury pies, bangers and mash and a traditional roast of prime rib and Yorkshire pudding. It's also the site of the Dockyard Brewing Co., Bermuda’s only craft brewery, so the full selection is available on tap. Start with the Somer’s Amber Ale, a crisp and refreshing beer named for Bermuda’s founder.

7. Harry's

A popular spot on the Hamilton scene, waterfront Harry’s has a lively atmosphere, popular with the business crowd for after-work cocktails. Retreat to the private dining room that holds up to 12 guests. A true classic, here, you’ll find beloved dishes on their well-rounded menu such as select oysters, beef tartare, filet mignon and fresh fish – the restaurant's namesake, Harry Cox, was a famed Bermuda deep-sea diver. But he was also known for his special rum blend, which is made to Harry's exact specifications here.

8. Huckleberry

Named in tribute to Mark Twain who visited the island often, this restaurant at the Rosedon, with its shuttered terrace and lush, tropical garden is precisely the spot you’d imagine the great, American writer whiling away the hours. The ground floor restaurant is broken up into two indoor dining rooms – each accommodates 15 to 16 people – and the wide porch is perfect for enjoying one of their signature gin cocktails. White tents are available for rent and outdoor catering from the Sea & Farm to Table menu can be arranged. Built in 1906, the former home retains Bermuda’s distinct British heritage.

9. Island Brasserie

At the back wall of Island Brasserie is the intimate and inviting Rum Room, a sumptuous space fit for up to 20 dinner guests. The menu is contemporary Bermudian – a fresh take on the evolution of the island’s cuisine. Think St. David Shark Hash, jerk chicken wings, mini Bermuda Benedicts on codfish cakes and pan seared rockfish with glazed bananas. Locally caught fish, seasonal harvests and artisanal products feature prominently. Antique brass detailing and Gerard Henderson’s iconic hand-painted murals pay homage to Bermuda’s seafaring heritage.

10. Port O' Call

Right at the heart of Hamilton, Port O’ Call’s cedar and brass-trimmed dining room channels an old-fashioned steamship. The elegant and intimate private dining room can hold up to 16 people for a seated dinner of fresh-caught fish, Bermuda-grown produce, artfully prepared steaks and an award-winning wine list. As far as restaurants with private dining rooms go, this one has some of the most commanding vistas. Start the evening on the patio overlooking bustling Front Street and Hamilton Harbour.

11. Sul Verde

At the golf club, Sul Verde focuses on the Campania region of Italy. Italian for “on the green,” the restaurant offers stunning views above the greens of Tucker’s Point Golf Course. The large back room can fit up to 40 people for a plated dinner or buffet dinner. Housemade mozzarella and creamy burrata are served alongside classic antipasti. The pizzas are true Neapolitan style with trademark thin, crispy centers and perfectly puffed crusts. Entrees include homemade meatballs and fresh local seafood.
