Bermuda Fashion Inspiration: Rebecca Hanson & Bermuda Shorts

Born and bred Bermudian Rebecca Hanson has taken the island’s iconic article of clothing, Bermuda shorts, and given them a colorful, contemporary makeover at her company TABS (the Authentic Bermuda Shorts).

Once you have your own pair of TABS, you may wonder where to show off your purchase as you head in search of fun on the island. In this video, Rebecca gives her tips for “proper fun” on Bermuda.

Natural Beauty

Her favourite thing about the island is how natural it is to use the “no filter” hashtag popular on Instagram. “You just don’t need a filter!” she says. “You wake up every morning and you say, 'I’ve gotta do something with these colours.'”

This Local's Favourites

Rebecca calls the historic Town of St. George, a UNESCO Heritage Site, a “must-see. You’ve got to go there.”

She always looks forward to Rugby Week in November, with its social, party-like atmosphere. For drinks, she recommends 1609, a gorgeous bar overlooking Hamilton Harbour. Her cocktail of choice is the Island Storm, a refreshing mix made with Bermuda’s own Gosling’s Black Seal Rum.

Her favourite sushi restaurant is Pearl. “The sushi in Bermuda is just amazing,” Rebecca says. “It’s so fresh.” She also recommends The Swizzle Inn, Portofino and The Pickled Onion as fun spots to eat, drink and be merry. “Even when it’s winter, you can still taste summer,” Rebecca says.
