Bermuda’s mild weather and many outdoor event spaces make planning weddings, conferences and other events easy year-round. Browse venues ranging from historic waterfront settings to secluded sandy beaches.
With space for bonfires, live music stage and DJ set-up Snorkel Park’s multi-functional facilities are ideal for all types of events. At the edge of the Royal Naval Dockyard with high walls surrounding the entrance, this enclosed outdoor event venue brings true beachy island vibes to small, afternoon retreats, large-scale barbecues, weddings, shows and more. The complex has all you need: an on-site kitchen, bathrooms, multiple bar stations, seating, a stage and a private beach. There is enough room for up to 5,000 attendees. To set the scene, the historic Keep Fort presides over one end, while a roomy terrace bar overlooks the lagoon-like bay, shallow reefs and sunken cannons.
Built by the British in 1870, Fort Hamilton is now a public park offering panoramic views of Hamilton Harbour. The beautifully manicured upper lawns can accommodate up to 500 guests. The lush gardens and historic stone ramparts make for a magical landscape for weddings and event. Guests can explore the underground passages and dungeons to the upper battlements for sensational views of the City of Hamilton. Parking is limited; however, shuttles are an excellent solution. Close to a residential neighbourhood, events are restricted to daytime and evening.
Victualling Yard
The site of community celebrations, including Oktoberfest and the Christmas Market as well as many a wedding, the Victorian victualling yard is an historical treasure – though it was once a storage area for food and drink supplies of the Royal Navy. Managed by the West End Development Corporation (WEDCO), the open square is lined by palmettos and two large historic buildings once used as warehouse spaces. The romantic, open air venue is gorgeous for saying vows and receptions can be held in one of the many indoor venues and restaurants in the Royal Naval Dockyard.
Overlooking the Great Sound and Ely’s Harbour, Scaur Hill Fort and Park is a favourite space for dramatic views and outdoor events where you need to make an impact. Sitting alongside the old Railway Trail, the historic fort offers some of the best panoramic views of Bermuda’s West End. Built in the late 1860s, it includes a massive dry moat backed by tall ramparts that once held a pair of 64-pound cannons. The surrounding park encompasses 22 acres, with many paths, picnic areas and restroom facilities. It is easily accessible by car or bus.
Barr's Bay Park
With water access, street parking and entry directly from Front Street, Barr’s Bay Park is a top choice for outdoor events. Overlooking Hamilton Harbour, and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club marina, it has played host to the Bermuda Street Food Festival, summer concerts, fitness classes and yoga events. It’s easy to close off the space for exclusive events – a winding footpath is ideal for controlled entry and exit. Even with a capacity of up to 2000, events feel intimate and special.
Island House
Small but brimming with natural beauty, Long Island’s Island House is a picturesque property, popular for weddings and receptions. The venue can accommodate 150 people. Rental includes parking for guests at Waterfront Properties, as well as an events manager to coordinate catering, bar, staffing and tents. Ceremonies are typically hosted on the Western Lawn overlooking Paradise Lake; the Eastern and Upper Lawn face the Great Sound and are ideal for seated dinner events. Photo opportunities can be found on the patios, balconies, rustic arbour and natural surroundings. The island’s small peninsula even has a tiny lighthouse.
