The Loren welcomes internationally acclaimed artist Alteronce Gumby for a three-week artist residency. Immersed in Bermuda's landscape, culture, and creative community, Gumby's time on island will inform both his studio practice and his ongoing exploration of colour, while fostering meaningful cultural exchange throughout the residency.

The Loren's Artist in Residence program brings art and cuisine together for a one-night-only dining experience inspired by the work of Alteronce Gumby. This collaborative dinner explores colour as both inspiration and expression—interpreted through a thoughtfully crafted menu that reflects how colour is perceived across cultures. Guests will enjoy cocktails and the opportunity to meet the artist and chef before settling in for a multi-course dinner designed as a sensory extension of Gumby's work.

This workshop is a creative and embodied process of release, reflection, and renewal. You are invited into this expressive art experience to let go of what no longer serves you and transform it into a new story. In Mad Mosaics we aim to explore how we can reshape our energy into meaningful, beautiful, and intentional experiences. 
 
This workshop is for anyone curious about creative expression,  hands-on art making, and energy and emotions in the body.  No prior art skills required; only a willingness to explore, feel, and create.
 
Time and Duration:
The workshop will be 3 hours long from 1:30pm - 4:30pm
Please arrive on time so we can begin together.
 
What to expect:

  • Learn how emotions affect the body, and where we store the tension

  • A mosaics activity based in channeling and releasing stored tension (get ready to smash some tiles!)

  • Guided time to design and assemble your personal mosaic piece (based in reframing the energy)

  • Space for reflection and setting new intentions

  • All creative materials (and tile smashing weapons) are provided (PSA: if you prefer to bring your own tiles/plates to smash you are encouraged to bring whatever contributes to your release/reframe/rebuild process)

  • You will leave with your completed mosaic artwork.

In the charming confines of Bermuda's historic Stewart Hall, try your hand at the various families of scent and their respective olfactory pyramid, educate yourself on natural essential oils and specialty aroma molecules, and create your own signature fragrance.

Additional details for the Perfume Workshop: It is advisable to hydrate and eat prior to arriving at the Perfumery as exposure to a multitude of essential oils can be a little demanding on the body. The workshop is designed for individuals aged 12 and above (sorry, no exceptions). We kindly request that participants do not bring along spectators.

What's included: You'll leave the workshop with a unique 50ml fragrance of your own creation, a Lili Bermuda Apron to remember the experience, and a booklet to record your personal perfume formula.
