About Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI)

Explore deep-ocean environments without ever dipping a toe in the water. Located in the City of Hamilton, the Ocean Discovery Centre at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) houses artefacts and interactive exhibits to help promote an understanding of our oceans. The latest exhibit is everything you need to know about the mysterious Bermuda Triangle! BUEI is very popular with kids and families, with a range of attractions to suit all ages. You’ll find coral-encrusted coins and other treasures pulled from shipwrecks, a simulated dive and shark cage dive, an astounding seashell collection and exhibits revealing the mysterious marine life of the sea-bottom. After you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the onsite Harbourfront Restaurant for lunch or dinner situated right on the Hamilton Harbour.

Join BUEI for a fun-filled hour of entertainment for kids aged 5-13 years. Every Saturday guests can enjoy a short film screening and booking reading specially curated for young explores. Each month has a new theme. 

What to expect:

  • A engaging film screening that sparks imagination and creativity
  • A reading of a popular children's book that fosters a love for literature
  • An I-Spy sticker hunt throughout the museum, encouraging exploration and discovery

These occur at 11am and 2pm.

Under the theme "Connecting Voices Across the Diaspora," this four-day cultural celebration brings together more than 20 Bermudian and international films from over 15 countries and territories, transforming Bermuda into a meeting point for Black Atlantic storytelling, culture, and connection. Experience Bermuda's history and identity on screen alongside stories from across Africa and the global diaspora, with the Black Carpet Opening Night, world premieres, filmmaker conversations, special screenings, the inaugural Bermuda Black Film Festival Awards, and an interactive Industry Workshop. Whether you join us for one film, a full day, or the entire weekend, come meet the filmmakers, discover extraordinary stories, and experience Bermuda from a different perspective.
