Enjoy a Museum or Two
The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art features more than 3,000 watercolours, lithographs, photographs, and etchings. You'll see works by legends such as Georgia O’Keeffe and Winslow Homer along with pieces by Bermudian artists. Spend an hour or so at this gem of a museum, located in the Bermuda Botanical Gardens in Paget.
Visit the National Museum of Bermuda in Royal Naval Dockyard to see one of the island's most in-depth and impressive works – “The Hall of History,” a 1,000-square-foot, two-story mural telling the story of Bermuda over the centuries. Bermudian artist Graham Foster spent about 7,000 hours painting the dramatic work, which depicts sailing ships and other expressive subjects. The former home of the British Royal Navy, Royal Naval Dockyard now has a buzzing art scene anchored by the museum and surrounded by galleries, shops, and restaurants.
The Bermuda National Gallery in Hamilton houses remarkable fine art and decorative works, along with major travelling exhibitions. Pack a picnic and find a spot on a bench in the sculpture park of the Queen Elizabeth Park behind the museum. Over on the island’s east end, the St. George’s Historical Society Museum inside Mitchell House Museum features architecture and artefacts representing Bermuda’s storied history.
