About Mitchell House Museum
Come and explore Bermuda history with Bermuda guides! Visit Mitchell House Museum in the UNESCO World Heritage Town of St.George’s. Constructed in 1731, this was originally the home of Captain William Mitchell and his wife Mary. Open to the pubic as a Museum for over 100 years, it still retains that feeling of a home.
Learn how local resources were used, not only in the home’s construction, but also for daily use in the kitchen. Dabble your fingers in the outside water tank, where rain, harvested from the roof, is stored. Find artefacts from far-flung corners of the world brought to Bermuda by our seafarers. Learn about St.George’s links to both the American War of Independence and the American Civil War.
Don’r miss a visit to The Printery, located in our basement, housing a replica Guttenberg press with special demonstrations at 10:30 and 12:00 on Wednesdays. Learn how Guttenberg, with his background in metallurgy, revolutionized society.
All included in the admission fee of $5 per adult ($2 for children). Credit cards are accepted.
