72 Hours in Bermuda for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship

The Butterfield Bermuda Championship brings PGA TOUR golf to one of the most spectacular courses on the calendar. At Port Royal Golf Course, the Atlantic is never far from the action, and the signature 16th hole can turn a seemingly straightforward par-3 into a serious test of nerve when the coastal winds pick up.

From October 22 to 25, 2026, the Championship returns as part of the FedExCup Fall. There's plenty at stake on the course, and plenty more waiting beyond it. South Shore beaches, local restaurants, and some of our favourite island spots are all close enough to enjoy between rounds.
If you're coming for the weekend, three days is just right. You'll catch the scramble to make the cut on Friday, the drama of Moving Day on Saturday, and the trophy presentation on Sunday. And yes, there's always time for the beach.

Your 72-Hour Butterfield Bermuda Championship Itinerary

Friday, October 23: Arrival and the Race to Make the Cut

If you're arriving Friday morning, drop your luggage at your hotel and head towards Southampton. There's already plenty happening at Port Royal, and the second round is an important one. Players are trying to secure their places in the weekend field, which means every shot counts a little more.

Before you head out, check the latest tee times and leaderboard to see when your favourite players are on the course. We’d recommend spending your first few hours following a group across the front nine. It’s the best way to get a feel for Port Royal’s fairways, the coastal wind, and how the pros handle both.

Stop for lunch at one of the tournament's food and beverage areas, then explore the spectator facilities. The Coca-Cola Fan Oasis offers shaded seating, food, and refreshments, while the public grandstand overlooking the 18th green puts you in an excellent position to watch players finish their rounds.

If you've booked a hospitality ticket, you can also settle into one of the premium viewing areas. The Goslings Club, located on the 10th hole, offers lunch, a complimentary Dark 'n Stormy, and views across several holes.

Friday Evening: Dinner on the South Shore

After a day of golf, stay on Bermuda's South Shore for dinner.

Coconuts at The Reefs is a favourite for seafood and sunset views. You'll find it perched above a secluded beach, with outdoor tables looking straight out to the Atlantic. The menu leans into fresh seafood with a Bermudian twist, and the setting feels a world away from the fairways you watched all afternoon.

Book ahead for dinner, especially during tournament weekend. Tables fill up quickly when the golf crowd is in town.

Saturday, October 24: Pink Sand and Port Royal's Famous 16th Hole

Saturday Morning: Visit Horseshoe Bay Beach

You’re in Bermuda, so it would be a shame to spend the whole weekend just watching everyone else enjoy the outdoors.
Start Saturday at Horseshoe Bay Beach, a short drive from Port Royal and one of the island's most recognisable stretches of pink sand.

October is still a great time for the beach. The Atlantic is around 78°F (25°C), so a morning swim is definitely an option. If you’d rather stay dry, walk the curve of Horseshoe Bay, explore the rocky coves at either end, or grab a coffee by the water before heading back to the course.

Horseshoe Bay has everything you need—restrooms, changing rooms, and food stands—so it's an easy stop even if you only have a couple of hours to spare.

Saturday Afternoon: Experience Moving Day at the 16th Hole

Saturday is Moving Day, when players make their push up the leaderboard before the final round. And there's no better place to appreciate what Port Royal can throw at them than the 16th.

This signature par-3 calls for a tee shot across the Atlantic to a green perched on a coastal peninsula. It’s spectacular to watch, but the ocean breeze can turn club selection into a guessing game. Even the pros can find themselves in trouble here.

Find a good spot and watch a few groups come through. You’ll quickly see why the 16th is one of the most talked-about holes on the course.

If you want to upgrade your spectator experience, the Ocean Club presented by Mastercard is worth a look. Its hospitality area overlooks the 16th and the Atlantic, with light hors d’oeuvres and drinks included. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon once the leaderboard starts getting interesting.

Saturday Evening: A Local Favourite in Southampton

For a change of scenery, head to Henry VIII Restaurant, Sushi Bar & Pub on South Road.

This long-standing Southampton favourite has a distinctive Tudor-style interior, ocean views, and a menu that covers everything from sushi to classic pub food. Weekend live entertainment adds to the atmosphere, so check what’s on if you feel like staying out after dinner.

Sunday, October 25: Championship Sunday and the Final Putt

Sunday Morning: Breakfast in Hamilton

Start your final day with a proper Bermudian Sunday breakfast.

Paraquet Restaurant on South Road has been part of Bermuda’s dining scene for over 50 years and is one of Bermuda's few true diners. Try the classic Bermudian codfish breakfast—a traditional favourite that makes a fitting start to Championship Sunday.

After breakfast, head back towards Southampton for the final round. From Hamilton, buses 7 and 8 run towards the West End, or you can grab a taxi straight to the tournament.

Sunday Afternoon: Follow the Final Pairings

Championship Sunday is the main event.

With the field trimmed after Friday’s cut and three rounds already played, the remaining players have one last chance to make their mark. Whether there’s a clear leader or a handful of contenders separated by a stroke, the final round is when every missed putt and tough recovery starts to feel consequential.

Follow the leading groups as they make their way around Port Royal, then find a spot near the 18th green to watch the closing holes. The public grandstand is a great place to watch players finish, especially as the final pairings come through.

If you can, stay for the trophy presentation. After three days of golf, seeing the winner celebrate at Port Royal is the perfect way to wrap up the weekend.

And if you haven't tried a Dark 'n Stormy yet, we'd say you've earned one.

Planning Your Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weekend

Where to Stay

Where you stay can make a real difference when you’re planning three days of tournament golf.

If you want shorter trips to Port Royal and the South Shore beaches, look at places in Southampton and the western parishes. The Reefs Resort & Club and Pompano Beach Club are two long-time favourites in this part of the island.

Or, the City of Hamilton makes a great base if you want more restaurants, bars, and shopping within easy reach after the day’s golf. It’s a longer trip to the course, but you’ll have more flexibility for exploring beyond Southampton.

Browse places to stay in Bermuda and book early for tournament weekend.

Getting to Port Royal Golf Course

Port Royal is in Southampton Parish, and there are several ways to reach the tournament:
    •    By taxi or local rideshare: Arrange a ride directly to the tournament's designated drop-off area.
    •    By bus: Routes 7 and 8 serve the West End. Ask the driver for the Port Royal Golf Course stop.
    •    By ferry: The Green Route links Hamilton with Rockaway, which is a short walk from Port Royal. Just keep in mind this is a weekday commuter service, so it’s not an option for Saturday or Sunday.
    •    By electric microcar: If you’re renting a vehicle, check the tournament’s parking arrangements. Spectator parking is at White Hill Field, with complimentary shuttles to the entrance.

For more information, see Bermuda's ferry schedules and the tournament's parking and transportation details.

What Is the Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weather Usually Like?

October is a very pleasant month for spending long days outdoors in Bermuda.

Daytime temperatures usually sit in the mid-70s to around 80°F (24–27°C), which is comfortable for walking the course or exploring the South Shore. The ocean is still warm enough for swimming, too.

As a spectator, the main thing to watch for is the wind. Port Royal’s coastal holes can get breezy, and passing showers are possible, so it’s smart to pack for changing conditions.

We’d recommend comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a light waterproof layer. Check the tournament’s spectator policies before you pack—there’s a clear-bag policy, and backpacks aren’t permitted.

Choosing Your Championship Tickets

You don’t need a premium hospitality ticket to enjoy the tournament, but it’s worth knowing your options before you arrive.
    •    General admission gives you access to the tournament grounds, designated public spectator areas, the Fan Oasis, and public seating at the 18th green.
    •    Premium hospitality is worth considering if you want reserved viewing areas, plus food and drink. The Ocean Club is the standout for the 16th hole, while the Goslings Club gives you a different perspective across several holes.

See the official championship information and ticket options before choosing your passes.

Plan Your Butterfield Bermuda Championship Weekend

The Championship might be the reason you book your flight, but there's plenty more to enjoy while you're here. With Horseshoe Bay just down the road from Port Royal and some excellent South Shore dining nearby, three days can give you a very good taste of Bermuda.
