In 2020, the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge debuted a new course for the PwC Bermuda Marathon. With the guidance and input of local runners who, collectively, have put in thousands of miles training in Bermuda, the original marathon course from 1975 (consisting of two 13.1-mile loops) was reimagined as a point-to-point running tour of the island.

Now, participants in the PwC Bermuda Marathon embark on an epic adventure beginning with a free ferry ride on marathon morning from downtown Hamilton, across the Great Sound, to the race's starting point on the west end of the island: the historic Royal Naval Dockyard. On the 26.2 mile journey, you will exerience some of Bermuda's most famous beaches and historic sites, including running across Somerset Bridge (the world's smallest working drawbridge) and past Gibb's Hill Lighthouse (one of the first lighthouses in the world to be made of cast-iron).

Don't worry, though, if you're not a history fan, we've got you covered. Along with the improved scenic views, the marathon course also features two rum stops sponsored by Goslings where you can sample their world-famous rum cocktails to put that extra pep in your step, as well as a variety of live entertainment and local cheering squads along the way to keep your spirits high as you head to the finish line.

Plus, if you want an extra challenge, you can run 3 races in 3 days as part of the Chubb Full Bermuda Triangle Challenge, which includes the Butterfield Mile, the Allshores 10k Run/Walk, and the PwC Bermuda Marathon. 3 races, 4 medals, and a high-quality Finisher's Jacket to wear with pride! (Free with registration: bragging rights, shameless selfies, and at least two days post-race of being able to complain about sore quads/calves.)

(Please note that if you plan to run the PwC Bermuda Marathon you should make arrangements to pick up your number either Friday, January 15 or Saturday, January 16. There will be no number pickup on Sunday, January 17)

Participants in the PwC Bermuda Marathon will receive a 2027 Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge technical t-shirt, a custom 2027 PwC Bermuda Marathon Finisher's Medal, a custom finisher's certificate, and a swag bag. In addition, everyone is invited to celebrate their accomplishments at the post-race Finish Festival in Barr's Bay Park, featuring music, free food and snacks (including Oscar Mayer hot dogs, Nature Valley granola bars, Herr's potato chips, and Haagen Dazs ice cream) courtesy of Butterfield and Vallis, samples of locally brewed beer courtesy of Bermuda Craft Brewing and of course rum cocktails samples courtesy of Goslings.

Please note you must be at least 16 years of age on Sunday, January 17, 2027 to participate in this event. There is a 6:00 time limit on the PwC Bermuda Marathon.

Please note that Bermuda Triangle Challenge participants and people that register for more than one race (e.g., the 10k and the half) will only receive one shirt.

Getting to the Start

free ferry will be provided to take marathon runners from Hamilton to the Royal Naval Dockyard*. The ferry will leave from the Hamilton Ferry Terminal (see map below) at 5:30am sharp on Sunday, January 17th. The journey is about 30 minutes and the boat arrives at the Royal Naval Dockyard at 6:00am.  Runners participating in the Bermuda Marathon are encouraged to take the ferry. Please do not be late for the ferry!

If you are not planning to take the free ferry, and you wish to make your own way to the Royal Naval Dockyard, there are parking facilities there and areas to disembark from other modes of transportation (if you are coming by taxi or bus).

Also at the start village in Royal Naval Dockyard:

  • toilet facilities
  • Dasani water
  • Powerade
  • coffee and tea
  • a variety of pastries
  • a bag drop truck that will transport runners' bags to the finish line at Barr's Bay Park in Hamilton

(Please note that if you plan to run the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon you should make arrangements to pick up your number on either Friday, January 15 or Saturday, January 16. There will be no number pickup on Sunday, January 17)

Bermuda Triangle Challenge participants and people that register for more than one race (e.g., the 10k and the half) will only receive one shirt. You must be at least 16 years of age on Sunday, January 17, 2027 to participate in this event. PwC Bermuda Half Marathon Relay

Teams of TWO (2) to FOUR (4) people will run the same course as the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon (which includes rum stops courtesy of Goslings!). Team members will exchange a baton, which contains the timing chip, at designated "handover zones" between course legs.

Can you survive the Bermuda Triangle Challenge…with the help of friends?

Don't forget: if you're looking for an extra challenge, you can run 3 races in 3 days as part of the Chubb Half Bermuda Triangle Challenge, which includes the Butterfield Mile, the Allshores 10k Run/Walk, and the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon. 3 races, 4 medals, and a high-quality Finisher's Jacket to wear with pride!

(please note: only the runner in the first leg of the relay is eligible to compete in the half marathon. The PwC Bermuda Half Marathon Relay does not count as one of the 3 races in 3 days as part of the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge)

How the Relay Works

Never run a half marathon relay before? Already keen to participate, but the race logistics are making you nervous? We've got you covered! Here are the basics of what you need to know:

  • This event will be chip timed.
  • Each team will be issued one race chip which will be attached to a baton that must be passed at each leg and carried from start to finish.
  • Participants will be responsible for any cost incurred to replace lost batons/chip.
  • Baton to be collected by 8:30am in the Hamilton Princess Hotel Front Desk Reception area. The Bermuda Timing System crew will be opposite the front desk check in area.
  • The relay race starts promptly at 9:00am.
  • Race numbers must be worn on the FRONT of shirt during the entire race.

How the Relay Registration Works

We get it, registration is already not the most fun part of the race experience, and now there are multiple people involved. Have no fear – we've made the process as painless as possible!

  • On the registration page you will be prompted to either join an existing team or create a new team
  • Team members can register individually, or one person can register multiple team members at the same time
  • If you are joining an existing team, make sure you know your team's name so you can select it from the list provided
  • Teams can have 2, 3, or 4 members

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected]

Please note you must be at least 12 years of age on Sunday, January 17, 2027 to participate in this event. There is a 4:00 time limit on the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon Relay.

Participants in both the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon and the PwC Bermuda Half Marathon Relay will receive a 2027 Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge technical t-shirt, a custom 2027 PwC Bermuda Half Marathon Finisher's Medal (those in the relay will receive a medal that specifies "relay" on the ribbon), and a swag bag. In addition, everyone is invited to celebrate their accomplishments at the post-race Finisher's Festival in Barr's Bay Park, featuring music, free food and snacks (including Oscar Mayer hot dogs, Nature Valley granola bars, Herr's potato chips, and Haagen Dazs ice cream) courtesy of Butterfield and Vallis, samples of locally brewed beer courtesy of Bermuda Craft Brewing and of course rum cocktail samples courtesy of Goslings.

If you're cheering on participants in the Butterfield Mile, be sure to get to Front Street early, as the the Royal Bermuda Regiment Band kicks off the evening's festivities with a performance in full regalia! And plan to stick around to watch elites from Bermuda and around the world compete for cash prizes, including $10,000 for the first male runner to break 4:00 minutes or the first female runner to break 4:25. If you've worked up an appetite from all the excitement and cheering, you can grab dinner at a number of dining establishments that line Front Street – many of which offer balcony seating that will give you front row seats while local adults and school-aged athletes compete in their waves.
