About Butterfield Mile (1st Race in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge Series)
The spotlight is on you during the first event in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Challenge: the Butterfield Mile. The only street races held at night in Bermuda, this event is sure to set the pace for the rest of your weekend!
The Butterfield Mile has participants in the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Half and Full Challenge share the stage as they run along Front Street in the city of Hamilton to the cheers and encouragement of the island's residents. Participants in the Butterfield Mile will run in waves, which will be indicated on your race bib. PLEASE NOTE: If you are participating in either the Chubb Bermuda Triangle Half or Full Challenge you DO NOT need to register separately for this event!
The Butterfield Mile Open Division: For participants who want to run ONLY the mile OR want the flexibility to mix and match distances without having to register for the Full or Half Challenge. The Butterfield Mile Open Division is a standalone race that follows the same course as the Full/Half Challenge participants.

Also Returning in 2026: Feed Your Need for Speed: Don't get HANGRY on us!
Last year, the addition of food trucks with a variety of convenient snack and meal options was a big hit with spectators and runners alike! In 2026, they will be returning and located in the same place: the No. 5 Car Park across from Butterfield Bank (and next to Pier 6) on Front Street. There will be volunteers in safety vests to help you cross the race course in a safe and timely manner.
Important Notes
Half and Full Bermuda Triangle Challenge participants are automatically entered into the Butterfield Mile, which is the first race in the "3 races in 3 days" series. Challenge participants do not need to register for this event separately. There is not a separate bib number and there are no separate mile awards for Challenge participants (for more information please see the Awards section at the end).
Invited runners will have raced internationally. If you are an elite runner and are interested in competing in this event, please contact us at [email protected] for more information. You are advised to contact us during the spring or early summer of 2025 if you wish to be considered for invitation to the 2026 event.
Local adult runners and school-aged runners (primary, middle, and senior school athletes) MUST qualify for the Butterfield Mile by running in the Butterfield Mile Trials which will take place Friday, December 12, 2025 at 6pm. For questions, please contact Dr. Freddie Evans via email [email protected] or telephone 441-735-0980.
If you are qualified local runner AND are participating in one of the Challenge races, you may choose which race you would like to participate in (the Challenge mile or the invitational mile).
