Bermuda Round The Sound Swim

About Bermuda Round the Sound Swim

The Round the Sound swim race is an annual open water swimming event that takes place in the beautiful Harrington Sound. This year, there will be more distances on offer to race in including the 10k, 6k, 5k and 800m.

We do suggest you register early if you wish to be sure of a place. Dock capacity is a constraint that we are unable to modify, so we do not have flexibility to expand numbers if you register late and a distance is full. Limits per distance are:

  • 10k = max 150 swimmers
  • 6k = max 75 swimmers
  • 4k = max 125 swimmers
  • 2k = max 175 swimmers
  • 0.8k = max 125 swimmers

The Visitors Package ($125) includes:

  • Free Entry to the Pre Race Pasta Dinner (Saturday evening at Grotto Bay Hotel) - $70 without the Visitors Package
  • Bus transport from Grotto Bay to the start location of your race distance
  • Bus transport from Aquarium (after finish of Race) to Grotto Bay
  • Bus transport and supervised swims for open water practice swims prior to Race Day (likely Thursday, Friday, Saturday at 10am)
  • A possibility of a guided Tour of Trunk Island (weather permitting and if occurring, likely as part of the Thursday practice swim trip)

Visions of the Vernacular: Architecture in the Masterworks Collection
in the Butterfield Gallery
May 2 September 12, 2026

Join us for the opening of our upcoming exhibition in the Butterfield Gallery, Visions of the Vernacular: Architecture in the Masterworks Collection. The Museum will host an opening reception on Friday, May 1, from 5:30-7pm. The exhibition will be on display from May 2 0 September 12, 2026.

Architecture is a crucial component of what makes Bermuda so historically and visually unique. Throughout the Island's modern history, local and visiting artists have reflected this by foregrounding Bermuda's architectural vernacular as a subject in their work – studying, celebrating, and re-interpreting its forms. Visions of the Vernacular: Architecture in the Masterworks Collection presents selected works of art from the Permanent Collection, dating from the early nineteenth century to the present day, which illustrate the distinctive character of Bermuda houses and the Island's broader built landscape.

Visions of the Vernacular: Architecture in the Masterworks Collection highlights fundamental elements of Bermudian architecture which artists in the Permanent Collection represent from a variety of perspectives depicting the geometric patterns of rooflines, the half-secluded spaces of verandas, and the framing forms of gates and pillars. These images invite the viewer to consider the social functions and symbolic meanings of these and other vernacular architectural features, as understood by the people living within and around them as well as the artists illustrating them.

The exhibition is complemented by a participatory installation by Kimberley Fisher, functioning as both a workshop and shared art-making space. The installation encourages reflection on vernacular forms as spaces of memory, identity, and lived experience.

Visions of the Vernacular: Architecture in the Masterworks Collection was curated by Dr Sara Thom and Max Grainge.
