In celebration of October Art Month in Bermuda, The Loren and Masterworks are thrilled to announce an exhibition featuring the work of local Bermuda artist Christina Hutchings at The Loren.
On October 12, the Bermuda community and hotel guests are invited to join us for an intimate Artist Talk with Christina, offering a deeper look into her creative journey, inspirations, techniques, and the stories behind the featured works. The conversation will provide a unique opportunity to hear directly from the artist and gain a greater appreciation for her work.
Artist Bio:
Christina Hutchings was born and raised in Bermuda. She received a BFA from the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA, and Rome, Italy, as well as a Master of Architecture degree from the Graduate School of Architecture, University of Virginia in Charlottesville. From 1985-2008, Hutchings lived in New York City, working for architecture firms Peter Marino Architects and Skidmore Owings and Merrill. While in New York, she continued her painting practice and received fellowships at the MacDowell Colony, Edward Albee Foundation, and Skowhegan.
Hutchings returned to Bermuda to focus on her art practice in 2008. In 2010, she had her first solo exhibition at Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art and was included in the Bermuda Biennial at The Bermuda National Gallery that same year. Hutchings has been selected for and included in subsequent Bermuda Biennials in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2024. In 2024, Hutchings had a second solo exhibition at Masterworks as well as inclusion in Masterworks group exhibitions, New Acquisitions and Works in Progress. Other recent group exhibitions include re-View / re-New at Westbeth Gallery, New York City, Testing Boundaries: In the Studio with Nancy Valentine and Christina Hutchings (BNG, 2022), Illusion & Abstraction: Capturing the Landscape (BNG, 2021), and Exhibition of Skowhegan Alumni (Dorsky Gallery, Long Island City, NY, 2019) Hutchings lives and works in Warwick, Bermuda.
