Good Friday

On Good Friday, Bermudians flock to open fields and beaches – especially the expansive pink stretch of sand known as Horseshoe Bay Beach – to fly handmade kites created from tissue paper, sticks, and string. Families also traditionally munch on hot-cross buns and savoury codfish cakes.

Bermuda Day

Celebrated on the last Friday in May, Bermuda Day is the unofficial start to summer on the island. The first Bermuda Day Parade was held in 1979 and has become a beloved annual tradition featuring dance groups, bands, majorettes, decorated floats, and Gombey troupes, kicked off with a half-marathon derby. For many, Bermuda Day also marks the very first refreshing outdoor swim of the season.

Harbour Nights

While not a singular festival, Harbour Nights is a hugely popular ongoing celebration that transforms Hamilton's Front Street into a lively street fair. Typically running weekly from May to September on Wednesday evenings, it's packed with local artisans and crafters, mouth-watering food stalls, and high-energy live music and entertainment. It's a taste of Bermudian fun, every week!

Carnival

Carnival in Bermuda might be a fairly new tradition, having started in 2015, but it's one that's absolutely exploding in popularity every June! Coinciding with Bermuda's National Heroes Day holiday, it's a multi-day event that builds to the electrifying "Revel de Road" parade. During Carnival, everyone is invited to participate in lively "fetes," or parties, as well as J'Ouvert, a high-energy pre-dawn celebration that truly marks the unofficial start of the fun. Get ready to feel the beat!

Cup Match

Many Bermudians would passionately argue that this is the most anticipated and celebrated event of the entire year! Cup Match centers around a fiercely contested cricket match between the island's two rival teams: St. George's and Somerset. But beyond the thrilling competition, Cup Match is a nationwide celebration of Bermudian emancipation – a true reflection of our island spirit and an important cultural moment.
