Owning a Vacation Rental in Bermuda

All Current Vacation Rental Properties must:

  • Register with the Bermuda government before accepting any guests at your Vacation Rental Property
  • Collect and remit a 4.5% Vacation Rental Fee to the Bermuda Tourism Authority

Registration is free, and can be done via the government portal here: Vacation Rental Registration (VRP)

The 4.5% Vacation Rental Fee is charged on the nightly rate of the rental – a sum identical to the already existing Tourism Authority Fee, which is collected from guests at licensed hotels and guest houses. Payments are due within two weeks after the end of each month. Collected fees, allocated for marketing Bermuda, must be paid directly to the Bermuda Tourism Authority. This is done via a BTAConnect account.

How Do I Pay the Vacation Rental Fee?

For vacation rental properties listed on Airbnb, the 4.5% vacation rental fee is collected and remitted directly to the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

Effective February 1, 2026, the same arrangement will be provided to vacation rental properties listed on VRBO for bookings made after January 31, 2026.

For non-Airbnb and VRBO listings, the 4.5% vacation rental fee must be collected and remitted directly to the Bermuda Tourism Authority by the property owner, manager or agent. Payments are due within two weeks after the end of each month.
