BTA Promotes Berkeley To New Chief Administration Officer Role

The Bermuda Tourism Authority (BTA) welcomes the appointment of Tracy Berkeley, to a newly created senior leadership post, Chief Administration Officer (CAO). Berkeley joined the BTA one year ago as Director of People with over twenty years of senior HR professional and operational experience in the tourism, reinsurance, healthcare, and international business sectors.

The CAO role represents an organisational shift, building a new operational structure which phases out the role of Chief Operations Officer (COO). Berkeley will be tasked with operational oversight of the organisation, including HR and management of administrative staff, the Bermuda Visitor Service Centre, and the Tourism Standards team. She will lead industry workforce readiness initiatives, destination accreditation, and manage legal relationships and oversee facilities contracts for teams in Bermuda and New York.

As Director of People at the BTA, she has implemented systems and processes to achieve corporate objectives, employee professional development and service delivery goals. Initially, along with former BTA COO Karla Lacey, Berkeley spearheaded workforce initiatives with external partners to create a sustainable tourism and hospitality talent pool for the island’s tourism industry. That work continues today across the hospitality sector and within the BTA.

Interim CEO, Glenn Jones said: “The talent in our organisation has developed impressively over the past seven years, withstanding many challenges. And with this workforce development comes opportunities for high performers to elevate. Tracy is another example of the positive, career-building culture at the BTA that is essential to the well-being of Bermuda’s tourism industry. I know she will perform magnificently in this new role.”

Berkeley has strong industry and community relationships and serves on Royal Bermuda Regiment Promotions Board and as a member of the Bermuda Human Resources Association. Prior to taking on her recent role at the seven-year-old Authority, Berkeley served as Head of Talent & Culture at Rosewood Bermuda, led the Bermuda HR division at Aspen Re and headed the Bermuda Hospitals Board’s Human Resources and Operations team.

"I am looking forward to this opportunity as we continue to play a pivotal role in both tourism recovery and reshaping the industry. I work with a dynamic group of committed individuals who motivate me every day with their passion for Bermuda,” said Berkeley.

Berkeley assumes her new role on February 1, 2021.
