Head on over to Elbow Beach Bermuda to see a spectacular fireworks display while relaxing on the sandy beach. Be sure to arrive before 9pm so you can pick your ideal spot. We also recommend bringing a beach chair or towels to sit on as there are no public beach rentals available. After you've enjoyed the fireworks take a quick dip in the water or head to the Lido Cafe complex for dinner.
2 Discover the Gunpowder Plot
The Revolutionary War might have turned out very differently if it weren’t for a group of Bermudians sympathetic to American independence. On the night of August 14, 1775, they stole more than 100 barrels of gunpowder from the Royal Arsenal in the Town of St. George, rolled them across the island to Tobacco Bay and shipped them to Philadelphia. Colonel Henry Tucker was one of the masterminds behind the daring Gunpowder Plot. Today you can visit his former residence at the Tucker House, which is now a fascinating museum maintained by the Bermuda National Trust. The 18th-century house is filled with antique furniture and archaeologial treasures.
3 Celebrate Summer Fridays
In July and August, get your weekends off to a festive start with the island’s evening Summer Friday Celebrations. (Since Bermuda is about a quick two-hour flight from most major U.S. East Coast airports, you might touch down in time for happy hour.) The island's chic lounges and clubs offer al fresco cocktail deals, dreamy sunsets, live music and bonfires on the beach. For an extra lively scene, head for the bars and restaurants of Front Street in the City of Hamilton.
4 Enjoy Fireworks & Fun at Elbow Beach
On July 4th at 9:30 pm, the skies over Elbow Beach light up with a dramatic fireworks show. To enjoy the festivities in style, book a table at Mickey's Beach Bistro, where great views of the sparkling sky come with American-themed drinks and food like burgers and pizza.
