About Scaur Hill Fort and Park

Take in panoramic views of the Great Sound of Bermuda and Royal Naval Dockyard from atop Scaur Hill Fort and Park. The imposing fort was built in the late 1860s, after the Union victory in the American Civil War made the British fear reprisal for Bermuda’s support of the South. It includes a massive dry moat backed by tall ramparts that once held a pair of 64-pound cannons. The park around the fort encompasses 22 acres, with many paths and picnic areas; the Railway Trail crosses the eastern side of the park. Scaur Hill Fort and Park is located 15 minutes south of the Dockyard, on the West End.
