Following in the footsteps of champions is easy in Bermuda, where you’ll find seven world-class courses spread over just 21 square miles. The best golfers of the past century – not to mention celebrities, presidents, and royalty – have played more than a few rounds on the island’s links. Come and enjoy the spectacular vistas and pristine courses, then celebrate your hole-in-one with a round of Rum Swizzles.

Turtle Hill Golf Club

Winner of Golf Digest’s “Best Places to Play Golf,” Turtle Hill Golf Club in Southampton is a bucket list course for golfers of all skill levels. The popular course has earned many accolades over the years – it was also ranked among the world’s top five par 3 courses by Golf Magazine and named the “Best Par 3 Golf Course in the World” in 2020 by voters in the World Golf Awards.

Course Features: Turtle Hill’s 18 challenging holes offer impressive views of the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll find various bunkers, two water hazards, and three tee offerings on all 18 holes of this 2,684-yard course. You can also try FootGolf, the newest sport to come to Bermuda. The aim is to kick a soccer ball into extra large “golf” cups on the course in as few shots as possible.

Amenities: Rent clubs at the full-service Pro Shop or purchase golf and resort apparel for your active island adventures. To take your game to the next level, arrange a private golf lesson with one of the pros. Lessons start at $150 for a 60-minute session and include slow motion video and flightscope launch monitoring. After your round of golf, head to Boundary Sports Bar & Grille above the Pro Shop for elevated pub favourites and refreshing drinks.  

Green Fees: Adult: 18 holes $60, 9 holes $45. Junior: 18 holes $30, 9 holes $15 (BJGA members $10). The 9 hole rate is applied to all rounds after 4:30 pm, regardless of holes played.

Mid Ocean Club

Designed by the renowned Charles Blair Macdonald, the Mid Ocean Club Golf Course on Bermuda’s east end is regularly ranked by experts as one of the best links in the world. It’s also one of the most beautiful. The club has hosted major golf events, including the 2007 and 2008 PGA Grand Slams of Golf.

Course Features: A championship 18-hole course with undulating greens and dangerous sand traps, Mid Ocean emphasizes the long game with six par 4s over 400 yards. The dramatically beautiful clifftop fairways are known for lush terrain and panoramic ocean views.

Amenities: The Clubhouse at MOC features a Pro Shop and the traditional charms of the Churchill Bar. Elevate your golf game with a private lesson ($70 for 30 minutes or $120 for an hour). The club hosts casual weekly events and groups for social players. 

Green Fees: An unaccompanied round of 18 holes (without a member): $375. Tee times for unaccompanied guests are available to book up to three months in advance.

Port Royal Golf Course 

Ranked among the world’s best public courses by Golf Digest and named Bermuda’s finest course by the New York Times, Port Royal Golf Course on the west end features 18 championship holes over 6,842 manicured yards, the longest and arguably the most picturesque course in all of Bermuda. The course has hosted the PGA Grand Slam for many years.

Course Features: Play on TifEagle greens and admire sweeping ocean views on almost every hole. The 16th hole has confounded even the world’s best golfers, and it was a favourite of Jack Nicklaus himself. This legendary hole offers a clear shot across the ocean to the green, which is perched on a coastal peninsula.

Amenities: Shop popular brands at Bermuda’s premier Pro Shop, which also offers professional assistance when buying equipment or apparel. Private lessons are available – call ahead to arrange a time. 

Green Fees: Regular rate: $210. Sunset rate: $75. Club rentals (per set): $65. Ask about cruise ship specials.

Tucker’s Point Golf Club

One of Bermuda’s oldest courses, Tucker’s Point Golf Club at Rosewood Bermuda was dramatically redesigned by Roger Rulewich in recent years. The course is now on the golf world’s cutting edge, earning accolades such as "Best Golf Resort" from Travel + Leisure Golf. 

Course Features: Enjoy elevated tees and ocean views from multiple holes. All greens have been rebuilt with TifEagle greens for a faster, truer putting surface. You can also practice your short game at the 10,000-square-foot practice putting green.

Amenities: The club offers golf lessons and a junior golf program. Lessons start at $100 for a 30-minute session, and various packages are available for additional lessons. The Pro Shop carries merchandise from top brands and high-quality rental equipment. Fuel up after a round of golf with lunch or dinner at the elegant restaurant Sul Verde, serving up delicious Italian fare in a modern meets Old World style.

Green Fees: Rosewood hotel guests: 18 holes $195, 9 holes $125. Local hotel guests: 18 holes $225, 9 holes $140.

Ocean View Golf Course

North of the City of Hamilton, the Ocean View Golf Course has a four-star Golf Digest rating and gorgeous island scenery to complement your sight lines. This premiere nine-hole course offers a satisfying game along with those incredible views – you might want to play it twice. 

Course Features: The course is challenging and fun, with 18 different tee positions set for a tricky par 70. The course welcomes golfers of all skill levels.

Ocean View Golf Course – Ocean View

Amenities: Learn from the pros with private lessons starting at $60 for a half-hour and $90 for a full hour. 

Green Fees: Daily rate for 18 holes: $60. Daily rate for 9 holes: $40. Sunset rate: $40.

Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Course

Soak up panoramic views of Hamilton Harbour and the Great Sound – an inspiring accompaniment to every shot at Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Course.

Course Features: Featuring 6,100 yards of strategically laid out bunkers, multi-tiered greens, and slender fairways, the course’s layout by Algie M. Pulley, Jr. offers a challenging test for players of all handicaps.

Amenities: Enjoy a Bermuda Rum Swizzle after the game at Divots Bar and Grill. Then dine at Blú, named one of the “100 Best Restaurants in the World” by Condé Nast Traveler magazine, and take in scenic water views while enjoying steak or seafood. Before your game, hit the Belmont Hills Pro Shop for everything from snacks to golf balls to polo shirts.

Green Fees: Daily rate for 18 holes: $110.

Five Forts Golf Club

Tee off for a scenic round of golf at the newly opened Five Forts Golf Course, tucked into the island’s east end near the Town of St. George, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the course is an amenity of the new The St. Regis Bermuda Resort. To play golf here is to experience the best of old and new Bermuda.

Course Features: The challenging but inviting course offers captivating ocean views from most of its 18 holes. Surrounded by five forts, including the well-known Fort St. Catherine, the par-62 course is designed for everyone from beginners to experts seeking a premiere golf experience. Tee off at Fort Victoria and take a moment to soak up the mesmerising ocean views.

Amenities: Relax and unwind at The St. Regis Bar, and browse the Golf Pro Shop for equipment and apparel. The St. Regis Bermuda Resort offers golf packages that include ocean view accommodations, rounds of golf, and daily breakfast at Lina restaurant. 

Green Fees: Daily rate 18 holes: $220. Sunset rate: $150.

It hasn’t won any awards from golf magazines, but if you’re looking for an on-the-green experience for the whole family, try Bermuda Fun Golf. Featuring 18 holes inspired by some of the most famous holes from Bermuda, the U.S., and Scotland, this golf attraction is a favourite for families.
