Tucker House Museum – Bermuda National Trust

Step inside the early 18th-century home of Henry Tucker, a merchant who served as president of the Governor's Council from 1775 to 1807. You can explore the elegant interior of this historic home and view treasures from Tucker’s collection, including the family silver, antique furniture made from English mahogany and Bermuda cedar, and family portraits painted by the American artist Joseph Blackburn. The museum is also part of the African Diaspora Heritage Trail. Learn the inspiring story of enslaved Joseph Rainey, who opened a barber shop in the kitchen of the Tucker House and later became the first African American member of the U.S. House of Representatives. In the cellar, an archaeological exhibit brings Bermuda’s history to life, illuminating the island’s connections to colonial Virginia through artefacts found on-site. Tucker House Historic Home and Museum is open Wednesdays from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. These hours may change, please visit bnt.bm for regular hours.
