With a temperate climate year-round, Bermuda knows al fresco dining. Options include a rooftop deck perched over Hamilton's Front Street and an oceanfront terrace dishing out a star chef's inventive island cuisine. Here are some ideas for getting outside and chowing down.

1 Marcus’

Ethiopian-born, Harlem-based Marcus Samuelsson oversees his namesake restaurant in the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. Opened in 2016, Marcus' offers the superstar chef's inspired take on Caribbean and Bermudian cuisine with offerings like a Darker and Stormier cocktail (fresh ginger adds extra zing), fish chowder bites (a clever take on the classic stew) and pit-roasted jerk chicken. The surroundings are stunning, too, especially on the outdoor terrace overlooking the azure, sailboat-filled waters of Hamilton Harbour.

2 Mickey’s Beach Bistro & Bar

Elbow Beach Bermuda

With its main dining room located on an open-air deck at sand-level on Elbow Beach, Mickey’s earns its beach restaurant label. April through October, this spot at the Elbow Beach Bermuda resort serves lunch and dinner while the waves roll in and the palm trees sway. The Mediterranean-meets-island cuisine includes local grilled seafood, creative pasta dishes and, at lunch, a traditional fish sandwich. Staffers will even arrange a private, romantic candlelit dinner right on the sand.

3 Bolero Brasserie

You'll enter this City of Hamilton gem down a hidden alley, but its second-story porch proves a see-and-be-seen al fresco treat. Under swirling ceiling fans, you'll get above-it-all views of bustling Front Street and boats bobbing in the harbour beyond. Bolero Brasserie chef/owner Jonny Roberts' changing, seasonal menu stars inventive dishes like mahi mahi with crab and wasabi cocktail as well as island standards like rum-accented seafood chowder.

4 Bone Fish Bar & Grill

Bermuda’s Royal Naval Dockyard always buzzes with activity thanks to its museums, shops and regular cruise-ship arrivals. One of the best spots to sit back and people watch is Bone Fish Bar & Grill’s expansive patio, which has sweeping Great Sound vistas. Chef and owner Livio Ferigo specializes in seafood and Mediterranean-style dishes, but he also makes a mean rib-eye steak. The spot stays lively till the wee hours, with a late-night menu served until 1 am.
